Position data acquisition in mobile cranes

Customization of assemblies to acquire position data of a cable on a cable reel is a crucial element for digitalization in modern mobile work cranes and aerial work platforms. These systems require precise measurement of cable length and its exact position to ensure efficient use and safety.

As an experienced provider of sophisticated CAN applications, MicroControl was chosen to implement such an application by one of our customers. The challenge was to convert analogue signals into digital data and integrate them into a CAN network. This required a careful selection of suitable sensors and the development of firmware for data processing.

Another critical point was to meet the customer-specific board dimensions and design to facilitate seamless integration into existing systems.
