MicroControl’s Summer Event –<\/span><\/h1>\n

A Day Out at the Hambach Open-Pit Mine <\/span><\/h1>\n

The MicroControl team gained insight into the history, mining and recultivation of the area during a guided tour of the Hambach open-pit mine <\/a>in the lignite mining area in the Rhineland.<\/p>\n

Our booked tour took us past numerous groundwater pumps to several viewpoints, through the old village of Manheim, which will have to make way for the excavators soon, and the newly built village of New-Manheim a couple of kilometres away from the pit, and back to the starting point of the tour. The weather, still muggy at the beginning, surprised us with heavy thunderstorms which provided both spectacular views and cooling. <\/p>\n

With plenty of new knowledge and duly drenched, the team found shelter in a nice restaurant at the edge of the pit enjoying \u201cpulled coal-burgers\u201d in keeping with the topic. Fortunately, there were plenty of alternatives on the menu for those who were less enthusiastic about coal. <\/p>\n

The team is delighted with an all-round successful and enjoyable company outing. <\/p>\n
